Frequently Asked Questions

1. About myTuner Radio

1. What is myTuner Radio?

myTuner Radio is a free internet radio and podcast platform that gives you access to more than 50,000 live AM, FM, DAB and online radio stations from over 200 countries and territories, plus more than 1 million podcasts. You can listen in your browser or in the free myTuner apps.

If you're exploring other options, see our comparison of myTuner Radio and other radio apps.

2. Is myTuner Radio free?

Yes. Listening to radio stations, podcasts and music charts is completely free and no account is required. The free version is supported by visual ads, which you can remove with an in-app purchase or by using myTuner Radio Pro.

3. How many radio stations and podcasts are available?

myTuner Radio offers over 50,000 live radio stations from more than 200 countries and territories, and more than 1 million podcasts. The catalogue is updated continuously as new stations are added and streams change.

4. Do I need an account to listen?

No. You can browse and play any station or podcast without signing up. An account is only needed to save favourites, sync them across devices and keep your listening history. Accounts are free and can be created with email, Google or Facebook.

5. Do I need an internet connection to use myTuner Radio?

Yes. myTuner streams audio over the internet (Wi-Fi, 4G or 5G) rather than picking up radio waves, which is why you can listen to stations from anywhere in the world. Most phones, tablets and computers no longer include a built-in FM tuner.

6. Does myTuner Radio use a lot of data?

A typical radio stream uses roughly 30–60 MB per hour, depending on the station's bitrate. If you listen on mobile data for long periods, prefer Wi-Fi or choose lower-bitrate streams. Radio streaming uses far less data than video.

2. Finding stations and content

7. How do I find a specific radio station?

Type the station name into the search field (for example, “Jazz24”). You can also browse by country, state, city or genre, or use the “Near me” and “Top stations” sections to discover what is popular where you are.

8. Can I listen to my local radio station from another country?

Yes, in most cases. myTuner works worldwide, so you can tune in to stations from your home country while travelling. Some broadcasters restrict their stream to a specific country or region for licensing reasons, and those stations will not play outside that territory.

9. What is the “Charts” section?

Charts show the songs and artists most played on the radio in the country you have selected, so you can follow the hits without waiting for them on air. You can play a 30-second preview of each song, and on iOS and web you can buy it or stream it with Apple Music.

10. What are podcasts and how do I listen to them on myTuner?

Podcasts are on-demand audio series you can stream episode by episode. Open the Podcasts section to browse by country, category or popularity, search for a specific show, or add it to your favourites to follow new episodes.

11. Why do some stations show the song that is playing and others don't?

The “now playing” information comes from metadata included in the station's own stream. Some broadcasters send artist and track data, others do not, so the information is only shown when the station provides it.

12. How can I suggest a station that is missing?

First use search to confirm the station is not already listed. If it is not, email help@mytuner.mobi with the station name and, if possible, the stream URL. In the iOS and Android apps you can also go to Settings > About > Suggest a new radio.

13. Can I add my own station or stream URL?

Yes. In the iOS and Android apps, go to Settings > Add new station and paste the stream URL. The station is added only to your own device and is not published in the public myTuner directory.

3. Account, favourites and sync

14. How do I add, find or remove a favourite?

Tap the star icon next to the play button, or on any station, podcast or chart entry, to save it. On Android all favourites live in the Home menu; on iOS they appear in the Home tab and in your profile (flag / profile picture menu), with favourite songs available only through your profile. To remove one, tap the star again or long-press it and choose Delete.

15. How do I sync my favourites across devices?

Log in to your myTuner account before adding favourites, then sign in with the same account on your other devices and your list will appear automatically. Favourites added while logged out stay on that device only.

16. I forgot my myTuner password. How do I reset it?

In the Log in menu, choose the reset option, enter your email address and tap “Send code”. You will receive a code by email. Then open the “Change password” section, enter your email, the code and a new password, and confirm.

17. How do I delete my myTuner Radio account?

Send a deletion request from the email address linked to your account to help@mytuner.mobi. Your account, favourites and listening history will be removed in accordance with our privacy policy.

4. Features: alarm, sleep timer, equaliser, car mode

18. How do I set a radio alarm on myTuner?

On Android, go to Settings > Alarm Settings > Alarm, tick the alarm checkbox and choose your station and time. On iOS, first enable push notifications, then go to Settings > Clock Settings > Alarm and press Save; you will receive a notification that opens the app and starts your station. The alarm needs an internet connection.

19. How do I set the sleep timer?

On iOS, go to Settings > Clock Settings > Sleep Timer, choose the duration and press Start. On Android, start playing a station first, then go to Settings > Startup Settings > Sleep Timer and select the duration. The sleep timer requires an internet connection.

20. Can I listen in the background, and how do I stop playback?

Playback continues when you leave the app or lock the screen, so press Pause first — or use the control in your notification shade or lock screen — if you want it to stop. If background playback fails instead, check that no battery saver or task-killer app is closing myTuner and allow the app to run unrestricted in your battery settings.

21. Does myTuner Radio have an equaliser?

Yes. The equaliser is available on iOS and Android after you remove ads or use myTuner Radio Pro, and includes several presets so you can adjust the sound to your speakers or headphones.

22. What is Car Mode?

Car Mode is a simplified, large-button interface designed for safer use while driving, available on iOS with the in-app purchase or Pro version. For built-in car systems, myTuner also works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. See all supported devices and gear.

5. Devices and platforms

23. Which devices and platforms support myTuner Radio?

myTuner Radio works on the web, iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets, Windows and Mac, Apple Watch and Wear OS, Apple TV, Android TV, Samsung and LG TVs, Amazon Fire TV, Roku and Chromecast, Amazon Alexa and Sonos, and in cars via Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bosch mySPIN and Jaguar & Land Rover InControl. See all supported devices and gear.

24. How do I use myTuner Radio with Alexa or Sonos?

On Alexa, enable the myTuner Radio skill and ask Alexa to play a station by name. On Sonos, open the Sonos app, add myTuner Radio as a music service, then browse and play stations directly on your Sonos speakers.

25. How do I cast myTuner Radio to Chromecast, AirPlay or Bluetooth?

For Chromecast, start a station and tap the cast icon in the top menu of the iOS or Android app, then pick your device. For AirPlay, use the iOS Control Center or, on Mac, the output menu next to the Login button. For Bluetooth, simply pair your speaker and myTuner will stream to it automatically.

26. Can I use the same purchase on more than one device?

Yes, as long as you use the same store account and the same operating system family. An iOS purchase covers your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, and a Google Play purchase covers your Android devices. Purchases are not transferable between different stores.

6. Free version, Pro and purchases

27. What is the difference between the free version and myTuner Radio Pro?

The free version includes all stations, podcasts and charts, supported by visual ads. Removing ads (in-app purchase) or using myTuner Radio Pro gives you an ad-free interface plus the equaliser, Car Mode and play-at-startup. The in-app purchase and the Pro app offer the same features.

28. I removed ads but still see advertising. What should I do?

On iOS, open Settings > General Settings and tap “Restore Purchases” using the same Apple ID you used to download the app. On Android, make sure you are signed in with the same Google account. On Mac, uninstall any remaining free version, since the ads come from it. If ads persist, contact help@mytuner.mobi.

7. Troubleshooting and broadcasters

29. What does “Error: Try another radio” mean?

It means we could not connect to that station's stream. Common causes are a weak internet connection, limited bandwidth or listener limits on the station's side, geographic restrictions, or a stream URL the broadcaster has changed. Try another station and report the problem to help@mytuner.mobi so we can fix the link.

30. I am a broadcaster. How do I add or edit my station?

Create an account in the broadcaster back office, then go to Broadcaster > Find your Station and search for your station name. If it already exists, click the “+” sign to claim it; once our team validates your request you can edit the stream, logo, description and schedule. If it is not listed, you can register it from scratch.
