Who Will Perform at Rio Olympics Opening Ceremony?

August 5 will officially set the beginning of Rio Olympics 2016.

The three-hour opening ceremony will be televised around the World.

The organization behind Rio Olympics has already revealed some of the names that will be performing on the day: two of the contemporary Brazilian music pillars Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil and the pop star Anitta.

The Artistic Director of the event, Daniela Thomas, says in a promotional video on the Rio Olympics website that they “want to have the biggest party there has ever been in this country”.

While Veloso and Gil will be representing the foundation of Brazilian music, Anitta has more international exposure, with one of her latest hits “Bang” hitting more than 200 million views on Youtube.
